WHITE CASTLE SLIDES BACK INTO THE BRONX WITH A COMPLETELY REMODELED RESTAURANT
WHAT: Grand Reopening for White Castle #2
WHO: Open to customers and media
WHEN: 9:00 a.m., Sunday, August 7, 2011
WHERE: 550 E. Fordham Road, Bronx, NY 10458
White Castle prepares to reopen its newly rebuilt restaurant in the Bronx this weekend. The family-owned chain is reinvesting in this restaurant to better serve New Yorkers with updated equipment and a new look. The steel-framed building with stone and brick veneer matches other buildings in the Bronx. This is a unique design for a White Castle restaurant.
America’s first fast-food hamburger chain opened a restaurant at this location on August 10, 1930. It’s located near the historic Fordham University campus at E. Fordham Rd. and Lorlillard Place. The building was closed for construction on April 11, 2011, then stripped down to the structure’s steel skeleton and rebuilt.
White Castle #2 will begin serving up hot, fresh, steam-grilled-on-a-bed-of-onions Original Sliders on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. White Castle will be giving away special gift packs to the first customer to make a purchase in the drive thru lane, the first customer to make a purchase inside the restaurant and to the first customer that orders food from the online menu.
The 2,700 square foot building will employ approximately 50 team members and seat 71 customers. The rebuilt White Castle will serve the chain’s famous fare 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The full menu is available for online ordering at http://www.whitecastle.com/onlineordering.
White Castle is famous for putting its people first and offers fulltime team members many benefits, including paid vacations; health, dental and life insurance; pension and profit sharing; weekly paychecks; as well as on-the-job perks such as White Castle’s ‘promote from within policy’ and free meals while working.
